My Story

Hey there! My name is Joni Burtt, and I am based out of southern New Brunswick, Canada. I serve the areas between Saint John and Fredericton, and am open to traveling and destination photography as well. I specialize in lifestyle and documentary photography for children, families, and couples.

I began dabbling in photography in 2010, after posting a photo to Facebook and having someone comment positively on it. It went straight to my head, and I decided photography must come naturally to me. I began by photographing my son, and was immediately hooked (though quickly discovered it is NOT as easy as I thought!). Slowly I branched out into photographing family and friends, and then clients. Having experimented with lots of different kinds of photography, I came to the conclusion that family photography is what excites me most. I also absolutely love documenting my own children and life and our various adventures. Because of the joy and nostalgia I feel while looking at my own photos, Iā€™m a big believer in making sure your family is well-documented!

I am a self-taught photographer, but have had some exciting things to add to my resume: a magazine cover (Click, Fall 2017), several magazine features, a book cover, several blog features, a successful foray into stock photography, numerous collaborations with other artists, and have had the pleasure of being a speaker and mentor at the Land and See photography week in Prince Edward Island in 2018 (a highlight of my career, I must say!).

When I set my camera aside, I am likely to be found cooking, thrift shopping, boating and fishing, sitting by the riverbank, driving to the coast, or watching Parks and Rec.

I live in the forest in rural New Brunswick with my husband, a paramedic named David, and our two children: Charles, age 11, and Rosemary, age 7.5. At the writing of this, we also have a darling old grey-nosed lab named Joey, who is approaching his 15th birthday.

Thank you for your interest!
